Abstract: |
A single trial trench was excavated after the demolition of buildings on the site. A single pit was revealed which proved to be of post-medieval date , with pottery and tile of the 18th/19th centuries. Four pieces of daub recovered from the pit may have indicated that it was open during the clearance of old Blandford following the extensive fire of 1731, after which the present Georgian town was constructed.
