Abstract: |
A programme of test-pitting was carried out to test the potential of the site for containing peat deposits and archaeological remains of prehistoric date. Peat deposits of possible Bronze Age date were located in the eastern part of the site, with associated timbers, including one axe-worked example, and fire-cracked flint suggesting prehistoric activity in the area. The site lay close to the important Bronze Age remains at Shinewater. [Au] |
