Abstract: |
The watching brief identified a number of archaeological features across the site, mainly consisting of pits for the disposal of domestic rubbish and one or two post holes, ranging from medieval to modern in date. The assemblage of artefactual material recovered during the watching brief indicated that the properties had been occupied in the 12th or 13th century when it was thought that the recent layout of Burford as a market town took place. It also established the potential for the survival of archaeological deposits at the rear of properties in the centre of town. [Au(abr)] |
