Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of a proposed building extension. The evaluation identified a layer of Roman material which contained several fragments of disarticulated human bone and was likely to have represented similar material identified approximately 15m to the south-east in which at least six Romano-British inhumation burials were previously identified. The evaluation characterised the archaeological potential of the study area and indicated that deposits associated with a known Roman cemetery survived at a depth of 0.4m below the modern ground surface.
