Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site. Cropmarks in the vicinity had been noted on aerial photographs, and an early medieval cemetery lay nearby. During the evaluation, pottery of a probable Iron Age date was recovered from a ditch and a pit or ditch terminal, and an undated gully was recorded. A small number of domestic animal bones were recovered; these were tentatively dated to the early medieval period. It was concluded that some archaeological activity had occurred at the site, but that the small amount of evidence found did not indicate a large or dense occupation site. [AIP] |
