Abstract: |
The evaluation comprised the excavation and recording of four trial trenches, some to examine potential post hole/pit features that were detected in a previous geomagnetic survey, and others to investigate areas not covered by the survey. The majority of the features encountered were found to be clay land drains although two pit-like features and the truncated remains of medieval ridge and furrow farming were also encountered. No artefactual or ecofactual evidence was recovered from stratified contexts and consequently the function and dates of the possible pits remained unknown. [Au] |
