Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation by means of two hand-excavated test pits was undertaken in the East Courtyard of Longleat House. The lower courses of a wall probably relating to the 1567/8 rebuilding were recorded: there was no evidence to suggest an earlier (monastic) origin for that structure. Elsewhere, a small area of potentially medieval soil deposits was identified. Existing drains and other services were likely to have disturbed extensive parts of the site. [Au] |
