Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation was undertaken in August 1996 on the site of a proposed training centre north of Battlebury Barracks, Warminster. Two machine-excavated trenches were dug in locations to intercept elements of an extensive, undated field system apparent from aerial photographs. No evidence of the field system was recovered, and it was concluded that it didn't survive as identifiable subsoil features in the area examined. Two large pits were seen, one modern and one undatable. Only two worked flint flakes were recovered from the excavated spoil heaps. [Au(abr)] |
