Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken in fulfilment of a condition attached to the grant of Scheduled Monument Consent and the grant of planning permission, for extension to the present building. It revealed that the area had seen substantial build-up in level (over 1m) since the demolition of the palace in 1650. At the base of this build-up and directly overlying undisturbed sand was a layer from the palace demolition. It was unclear what this implied with regard to the location of the site in relation to the palace. [Au(adp)] |
