Abstract: |
Eight trial trenches were excavated as an evaluation in advance of the proposed residential redevelopment of the site. An undated tree hollow and a ditch containing 19th/20th-century material were revealed. Apart from a few frogged bricks and modern pottery and glass, no finds were found within the spoil arising from the trenching. Despite the high archaeological potential of the site for prehistoric and later occupation, being an area of higher ground with favourable soils for cultivation, no archaeological remains were revealed.
