Abstract:
An evaluation was undertaken in order to confirm the findings of an earlier geophysical survey and, in particular, to locate the moat on the western and northern ides of the site. A postulated west wing of the Grade I Listed Hall and the resulting central courtyard area were also investigated. Seven linear trenches were excavated, these were complemented by 31 augured pits to establish an understanding of buried stratigraphy. [Au(abr)]
