Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken in advance of the proposed construction of a Day Centre for the elderly. The report concluded that although the site lay within an area of high archaeological potential, with significant archaeological remains having been recovered from the close proximity, it was known to have undergone a high degree of disturbance as a result of 19th and 20th century development. This had resulted in a considerable accumulation of Made Ground, which earlier archaeological, investigations had shown to have removed any potential archaeological deposits to depths of up to 2m. As the current development was not to involve any large-scale disturbance at such depths, it was recommended that no further archaeological work was required in connection with this site. [Au(adp)] |
