Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of a soakaway pit and a drainage trench within a medieval churchyard. The site lay within the defended area of the Roman town of Alcester. During the watching brief large quantities of undated human bone, representing at least five individuals, were recovered from a possible charnel pit. 2nd-4th century pottery and post-medieval finds, including pottery, clay pipe and copper alloy shroud pins and studs, were also found.
