Abstract: |
Observations of groundworks for a pipe trench for a new toilet in the vestry of St John the Baptist's Church suggested that no significant archaeological deposits were affected by the construction of the pipe trench. No graves were encountered, and small fragments of human bone recovered during the work probably came from earlier disturbances to the ground. The foundation of the vestry was the only structure encountered and appeared to date to the 1870's when much of the church was rebuilt. [Au] |
