Abstract: |
The Leisure Park was situated over the remains of the Newnham Priory and a Tudor period mansion. Priory and Tudor mansion buildings were situated below the car park, buildings of the outer court of the priory under the present Leisure Buildings and earthworks associated with the precinct boundary under the former allotments. The Priory buildings appeared to be relatively well preserved protected by a Tudor period garden. Historical maps indicated the location of former buildings and quarries/ponds. A number of below ground interventions had confirmed the location of these. [Au(abr)] |
