Abstract: |
A series of 13 test trenches were excavated, forming transects across the probable bank of Faversham Creek. Two sections of wooden revetment were identified, consisting of groups of up to six tree trunks, probably held in place by uprights and backed by faggoting. Although one part of the structure directly overlay a probably 13th century refuse deposit, no conclusive date was obtained for the structures despite submission of wood samples for dendrochronological analysis.
