Abstract: |
Archaeological salvage recording within the SAM of Nuneaton Priory was undertaken during the construction of a service trench for a new central heating system. The work revealed the foundations of several priory buildings located east and south east of the present church. Several fragments of medieval ceramic roof tile and a roof slate were recovered from the trench and evidence for burials was provided by two disarticulated human bones. Stripping of soil within the south transept of the medieval priory church revealed a possible layer of levelling for a medieval floor and a single fragment of glazed medieval floor tile which probably dated from the mid 14th century was recovered.
