Abstract: |
Previous evaluation work in the vicinity of the site had produced evidence for early Mesolithic to early Bronze Age activity in the form of pits containing worked and burnt flint. No archaeological evidence was found which would suggest that significant prehistoric activity was present on the site. The few finds comprised a small assemblage of worked and burnt flint from the base of a peat deposits, and two small sherds of post-medieval pottery. The only features were single drainage ditch of probable post-medieval date and a possible palaeochannel. A low embankment on higher ground at the edge of the floodplain was interpreted as a lynchet, probably of medieval or post-medieval date. [Au(abr)] |
