Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken at the former Seahorse public house in advance of the planned construction of new hospital facilities for children. It was known that a medieval nunnery had stood in the area in the past, and two evaluation trenches were excavated. No evidence of any structures associated with the medieval nunnery of St Mary Magdalene existed within the assessment area, neither did any other features of any great age. Late medieval pottery was recovered from the evaluation trenches and a watching brief over development work at the site was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
