Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of building foundations. The development area lay within the village Scampton which contained numerous sites of known archaeological importance, ranging from prehistoric and Roman roads, a Roman villa, a medieval monastic estate and a medieval manorial moated enclosure. Numerous cuts were identified during the watching brief but their date or function could not be determined due to the lack of artefactual evidence. [AIP] |
