Abstract: |
The archaeological assessment of land proposed for mineral working identified some evidence for archaeological activity on the site. The archaeological information indicated that deposits were likely to comprise linear features representing evidence for former field boundaries or early field systems, or isolated finds. In addition, the study indicated that the fields were arable from the 18th century and that many of the surviving hedgrows were of historic importance. There were no historic buildings within the site and no evidence was identified for the precise location of the deserted medieval village of Hale. [Au(abr)] |
