Abstract: |
An archaeological investigation was undertaken following a trial trench evaluation and fieldwalking, comprising test pitting, surface collection and excavation. A total of c.33kg of struck and burnt flint was recovered, mostly from the subsoil or the fills of periglacial features, along with a little Neolithic pottery and later material. The flint assemblage included two Mesolithic flaked axes. A small number of cut features of prehistoric date were also revealed, along with evidence of more recent activity, mostly associated with the wartime use of the adjacent Duxford airfield.
