Abstract: |
A field reconnaissance survey was undertaken along the proposed route of the Frensham to Aldershop Natural Gas Pipeline. No unexpected archaeological discoveries were made along the proposed route of the pipeline. Though conditions were not ideal, further relevant features were identified, but none of these need necessarily be affected by the proposed route, with the possible exception, of Feature F, an area of archaeological investigation which revealed dense Iron Age occupation set within ditched enclosures and with evidence of contemporary field systems incorporating double ditched trackways. The archaeological watching brief of the easement strip and pipe laying should be more than adequate to identify any further archaeological features or artefacts. [Au(adp)] |
