Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches at a site which lay within the walled bounds of Abingdon Abbey and within the core of Roman Abingdon. A cobbled surface which sealed Iron Age and Roman features had been excavated in the near vicinity. During the watching brief, the fill of a pit or ditch which contained late Iron Age and early Roman pottery was recorded. A further ditch or pit which may have been part of the same feature was found, and two post holes were noted. [Au(adp)] |
