Abstract: |
The excavation revealed that the earliest occupation on the site began in the 13th century. This medieval presence appeared principally in the north-west segment of the site and lay to the rear of an area fronting Greengate, where any conclusive evidence of contemporary occupational structures had been removed by basements associated with the development of a 20th century rubber factory on the site. The level of archaeological survival in those areas of the site not adversely affected by the cellarage and subterranean tanks of the rubber factory was good. [Au(abr)] |
