Abstract: |
The study showed that the Long Street frontage of the site was formerly occupied by two tenements which may have been of medieval origin, and the southern portion of the site occupied an area named 'Rack Close'; an area associated with the former cloth industry of the town. The site lay in an area formerly known as 'Eastbury', a later medieval suburb of Sherborne. Although there were no existing records of archaeological sites or finds from the site, there existed some potential for the presence of medieval archaeological deposits. [Au(abr)] |
