Abstract: |
The assessment revealed that the proposed development area had formerly been used by Furness Abbey, and that a small number of sites of archaeological interest had been recorded in the vicinity. These comprised the findspots of Neolithic stone axes, the site of Sowerby Lodge, and the possible locations of a deserted medieval settlement and of a Hall. A walkover survey identified two mounds and a trackway within the proposal area. [AIP] |
