Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a new residential development. Four archaeological features were observed. An irregular line of disturbed brick and stone which appeared to coincide with a boundary shown on the 1958 OS map; an area of building debris which may have indicated a building platform; a single undated small pit; an area of slightly dirty clay likely to have been the top of a ditch, possibly a continuation of that recorded in evaluation trench 15; the corner of a possible limestone wall was seen after topsoil stripping.
