Abstract: |
A survey was undertaken to record the structure of Bow Bridge, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The survey comprised the taking of measurements to provide a plan, a lateral section and an elevation of the bridge's north face. Some limited documentary and cartographic research was also undertaken. Results indicate that the bridge is of medieval origin but was widened in the post-medieval period. Subsequent to dis-use as a road bridge the structure has continued to be maintained, as evidenced by at least two repair interventions. [Au(abr)] |
