Abstract: |
(Following a desktop assessment and initial field survey on ì\nbehalf of the Department of Transport on the route of the ì\nproposed new road between Evesham and Alcester, seven possible ì\nsites (A - G) were identified that would be affected by the road ì\nconstruction and where evaluation work was necessary [AIP record: ì\nB.80.0001]. The evaluations, which were carried out between December ì\n1992 and August 1993, involved a programme of geophysical ì\nsurvey carried out by Geophysical Surveys of Bradford (Report No ì\n92/105), intensive fieldwalking and trial trenching\n[AIP records: C.80.0001 - 0007].)\n\nIn Salford Priors, Site D, a set of cropmark enclosures (WA 5081)\non the western side of the River Arrow, south west of Broom -ì\npossibly part of the same system as WA 1499 - was investigated by ì\nlimited geophysical survey and 11 trial trenches. A concentration ì\nof late Iron Age / early Roman features was found, along with ì\nelements of a later Roman field system. |
