Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, involving both desktop survey and trial-trenching, was carried out in advance of an industrial development. The desktop survey suggested that the evaluation area had been heathland and sheepwalk until the 18th century with the features identified on aerial photographs all associated with the Ransome's industrial site. The results also confirmed the presence of prehistoric archaeology in the vicinity, suggesting that depsoits of that date were the most likely to be found during the susequent fieldwork phase of the evaluation. However, the only features actually identified during the fieldwork were two modern linear earthworks, and other modern landscape features. [Au] |
