Abstract: |
Recording of an earth mound and associated stone find was carried out. The mound was sub-circular and measured c. 27m in length by c. 25m in width and a maximum of 2.2m in height. The landowner suspected that it may have been the site of a round barrow, although it could have been the result of post-medieval dumping. A palm sized rounded pebble was found at the top of the mound, by the landowner who believed it to have been a hammerstone. It was more likely to be have been of natural origin, as no conclusive evidence of human usage was seen. [Au(adp)] |
