Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during prepatory excavations for a main sewer diversion and general ground reduction prior to the installation of building foundations. The site lay to the east of the Roman legionnary fortress with few archaeological finds being made in the past from the immediate area. All the observed excavations indicated that the site had been subject to much modern disturbance which had obliterated any archaeological remains. Several sherds of late medieval pottery were found but did not seem to be associated with any occupation on the site. [Au(adp)] |
