Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension, at a site which lay within a medieval suburb of Warwick, in the vicinity of the town defences. A sherd of medieval cooking pot was recovered, and a demolished sandstone wall which may have represented the remains of a malt house marked on a map of 1851 was observed. The wall was overlain by deposits containing occasional hand made roof tile and brick of possible 18th century or earlier date, but no other artefacts of pre-19th century manufacture. An undated circular well with a capping of a probable 19th century date was also recorded. [Au(abr)] |
