Abstract: |
Fifty-six evaluation trenches were excavated on the site. A dispersed Iron Age settlement was located, with four discrete clusters of features. The features consisted of pits and occasional post holes. Curving gullies filled with charcoal rich sand and accompanied by small pits or post holes were identified. These indicated the presence of buildings or funerary features. A series of ditches were also identified, possibly of Iron Age date but were more likely to be post-medieval field divisions.
