Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment of the site in advance of residential redevelopment had revealed no known archaeological remains within the site. The site lay close to the historic core of the medieval village, and had the potential to reveal evidence relating to the Saxon and medieval development of Doddington. The village lay on an important 'island' of high ground above the earlier wet fens, and may have attracted early occupation to this elevated site. The excavation of five evaluation trenches revealed features of post-medieval and recent date. [Au(abr)] |
