| Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the digging of various service trenches. The watching brief identified that the land had been open ground for a long period until the 18th and 19th centuries. Several contexts, however, were seen to contain pottery from the 13th to 15th centuries whilst the lowest contexts were found to contain undisturbed late 12th/early 13th century pottery. A cobbled layer and feature were speculatively dated to between the 13th and 15th centuries. A wattle lined pit was also revealed which contained fragments of late 12th and early 13th century pottery. [Au] |
