A desk-based assessment, field inspection of sites, and recording of geotechnical test pits were undertaken to assess the archaeological implications of the proposed widening. Most of the sites within the study area were of medieval and later date; only a small number of prehistoric and Roman sites were discovered. [Au(abr)]
