Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that although no archaeological remains were known to be located within the site there was evidence to indicate that such remains may have been present. It was concluded that any potential remains were more likely to have been of Roman date than prehistoric, Anglo-Saxon or medieval. This was based on evidence for a Roman settlement, possibly a small town, located nearby at a likely crossing point of the River Darent by the Roman road from London to Dover (Watling Street). [Au] |
