Abstract: |
Three test-pits were excavated within part of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Stoke Albany moated site and fishponds (SAM Northamptonshire 13629) to determine the feasibility of removing soil from the base of one of the fishponds for refurbishment. A profile was surveyed across the pond and a visual inspection made of the earthwork. Evidence suggested that the pond remained in use until recent times and no silts demonstrably earlier than the 19th century were encountered. [Au] |
