Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation of Phase 9 consisted of 49 trenches, 42 of which contained archaeological remains. These remains consisted of a dense pattern or archaeology in the middle of the site (ditches, gullies, pits and post holes) which appeared to be a continuation of the important Late Iron Age settlement excavated in Phases 3 and 4. At the east and west of Phase 9, the remains became slightly less intensive and probably related to fields and drove-ways rather than domestic activity. Many of the features were undated and may have related to earlier elements, particularly a Late Bronze Age field system that had been identified in previous work. [Au(adp)] |
