Abstract:		 Further geophysical survey was undertaken on areas surrounding Whitby Abbey. This survey was carried out on land which may be affected by a proposed visitor centre and car park.No evidence was found for major archaeological structures, such as buildings, in the study area. Two medieval field systems were detected along with a set of rectangular walled or banked enclosures. Previous excavation confirmed that a rubble-filled ditch formed the boundary of one of these enclosures. Two areas of possible hearths of fired structures were detected. [Au(abr)]
