Abstract: |
Excavations were carried out to further assess the positioning of two of the proposed houseplots. Two trenches were excavated revealing two narrow gullies, sandstone blocks, an oval-shaped pit, a wall footing and a cobbled surface. The gullies were probably the remains of 12th/13th century ridge and furrow and of an 18th/19th century drainage trench and the pit contained a probable modern horse burial. These trenches indicated the depths, dates and preservation states of archaeological features that may be disturbed by the proposed development. [Au(abr)] |
