Abstract: |
The desktop study and fieldwalking showed that a number of archaeological site were present within the proposal area. These sites comprised five clusters of struck flint, the boundaries and foci of which were somewhat arbitrary, and an area occupied by cropmarks probably associated with a Roman site to the south of Blagrave Farm. Several of the fairways of the provisional golf course layout crossed the flint scatters, but none of the greens and tees were clearly located on the areas of highest potential. The area containing the cropmarks to the south of Blagrave Farm covered a relatively large area and it was considered much more likely that greens/tees in this area would impact on archaeological deposits.
