Abstract: |
The evaluation, consisting of a desktop assessment and trial trench, was located within the village of Portbury. It was proposed to add an extension to the rear of a building known as 'Old Barn' which was reputed to have been the infirmary of Portbury Priory (ST 4986 7537). None of the features found in the evaluation trench could be dated nor could they be related directly to the priory. The remains of a building which was thought to be of medieval origin were revealed as well as other related features, again these could not be directly related to the priory complex. [AIP] |
