An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of four trial trenches, was undertaken. The site lay within the historic core of Newport. A single large pit was dated to the High Medieval period based on sparse ceramic evidence. A small posthole of post-medieval date was identified. [Au(adp)]
