Abstract: |
The dam, which lay in the Scheduled Area of Kenilworth Castle, was a complex and important medieval structure dating back to the 12th century. Test pits in the Mere recorded a variety of alluvial deposits, including, to the south of the Finham Brook, undated waterlogged deposits. There was thus considerable potential for important medieval waterlogged remains to survive adjacent to the south east end of the dam. [Au] |
