Abstract: |
A new glasshouse and lake was to be constructed within the ground of the RHS Garden at Wisley. An assessment of the archaeological and historical evidence from the surrounding area revealed a moderate density of archaeological material focusing mainly on the prehistoric and Roman periods. As this fairly large area was undeveloped, and not known to have been previously disturbed, it was recommended that its archaeological potential be tested through a trial trench evaluation in advance of construction work.
