Abstract: |
The results of the evaluation indicated that the degree of cellaring within the study area proposed in the desk-base assessment was correct. This suggested that the area to the north of the evaluation trench had not been cellared and may have contained important archaeological deposits. However, there was a high possibility that at least part of this area has seen the episodes of disturbance and dumping evidenced within the evaluation trench. Nevertheless, it cannot be conclusively stated that all archaeological deposits had been removed completely from the site. It is therefore recommended that an archaeological watching brief be maintained during the excavation of the car park extension. [Au(abr)] |
