Abstract: |
The assessment identified that no archaeological material had been found specifically from the site, although this was as likely to have been due to a lack of archaeological survey, as to an absence of deposits. Evidence relating to earlier activity from the surrounding area was present in several forms, for example a late 1st century AD burial site to the south of the site. Many of the find sites displayed multi-period occupation. Early cartographic evidence had revealed that the site had always lain on the western periphery of the town of Ewell. The land was enclosed by the turn of the 19th century but the east end of the plot was not developed until the late 19thc entry. Since this time the site appeared to have remained open garden.
